Small change, changes lives!
Nobles Cooperative Electric initiated "Operation Round Up" in 2001.This program is designed to provide financial assistance to worthwhile activities in the cooperative's service area. This program aims to make a difference with small change donated by the members on a voluntary basis.
Every month, approximately 60% of our members round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar, contributing an average of 50 cents per month, with a maximum of just $6 per year per participating member. This collective "spare change" aids local charities, service organizations, food shelves, scholarships, emergency services, healthcare, hospices, and fire departments in our service area.
Individuals volunteer to serve as directors for the Nobles-Murray Rural Electric Trust Board. This volunteer board meets twice a year to review applications and to decide which causes to support. The application deadlines are March1 and September 1.
Currently, over $525,088 has been awarded to local organizations.
